Building products people love to leave

Retention is a symptom, not a strategy
You can't retain users by adding more notifications. You retain them by solving a real problem better than the alternatives. Retention is the lagging indicator of a product that consistently delivers value.
Help users finish the job
Users don't wake up wanting to use your product. They wake up wanting to finish a job. The faster your product helps them finish that job, the more likely they are to come back the next time the job appears.
Celebrate exit velocity
When a user completes their goal, celebrate it. A confirmation screen, a summary email, a clear 'you're done' moment. These endings make the whole experience feel satisfying and trustworthy.
Make returning effortless
A great product remembers where the user left off. Smart defaults, saved progress, and quick re-entry paths lower the friction of coming back. The easier the return, the higher the lifetime value.
